Balayage is the French word for "to sweep". It's freehand, hair-by-hair colour painting — no foils, no caps, no straight lines through your scalp. The result is colour that looks like sun, not like salon.
It takes longer than a foil highlight. Our balayage appointments are 2.5 to 3 hours, sometimes more for first-time clients with virgin hair. We charge for the work, not the time, but expect to be sitting for a while.
The trade-off: most clients only need to come back twice a year. There's no hard regrowth line to fix at six weeks. The grow-out is the point.

2.5 to 3 hours for signature balayage. Full head, first-time clients, or anyone going from dark to bright can be longer — we'll quote you the time on the consult, in writing.
Almost never. Box-dye sits deep in the hair and lifts unpredictably. We'd usually plan it over 2–3 visits with treatment in between. Honest about timelines on the consult.
Most of our balayage clients come back at 4–6 months for a refresh, sometimes 8. We'll talk you through what that schedule looks like before you book.
We do a finish check in the chair before we let you leave. If something needs adjusting, we do it then. If you get home and the colour isn't sitting right after a wash, come back in within 10 days and we'll sort it — no charge.
